Oleg Melnikov performed the role of Maluta in opera of Rimsky-Korsakov «The Tsar's Bride» in the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. The performance took place on September 8, 2016.
Created at the turn of centuries (premiered in 1898), distinguished by the depth of the disclosed topics, true feelings, bright and convex display of real Russian characters, and most importantly - an incredible abundance of solo and ensemble hits, opera «The Tsar's Bride» has become one of the acknowledged masterpieces of Russian music. This is a performance-thinking about the features of human and power relationships, about a permanent sensation of its presence, about those who have it and those who is deprived of it.
«The Tsar's Bride» is of particular importance for the Belarusian Bolshoi. It was one of those plays of early 1930-ies of the XX century, with which, along with «Carmen», «Onegin», «The Barber of Seville», the history of the theater began. The play-legend of 1950, having gone through the famous «Aida», lived on stage for almost 60 years. The new performance, the fourth in the annals of the Bolshoi, was created by conductor Nikolai Kolyadko, stage manager Mikhail Pandzhavidze, choirmaster Nina Lomanovich, artists Alexander Kostyuchenko (scenography) and Nina Gurlo (costumes).
The leading roles in opera «The Tsar's Bride» will be performed by Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Stanislav Trifonov (Gryaznoi), laureates of international contests Tatyana Gavrilova (Martha), Ekaterina Golovleva (Lubasha), Andrei Valenty (Sobakin), Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Melnikov (Maluta), laureates of international contests Victor Mendelev (Lykov), Alexander Zhukov (Bomeli), Elena Salo (Dunyasha) and others. Conductor - Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Kolyadko.
